A Day in Dorrigo
Dorrigo is a charming rural town with historic buildings, friendly cafes and an arts scene. The small town is the gateway to World Heritage-listed rainforests and national parks with amazing trails, waterfalls, views and wildlife. Dorrigo is the perfect base for action packed adventure such as trout fishing, canoeing, horse riding, mountain bike riding and self-guided four-wheel drive trips.
The itinerary
Wake up to the crisp clear air of the Dorrigo Plateau and wander down to the main street for breakfast and freshly brewed coffee at one of the local cafes. Time to fuel up with a hearty breakfast before a day exploring the Dorrigo region!

Hickory Street
Head out on the 2.1km cycle and walking path to Dangar Falls where you'll be met with a spectacular 30-metre waterfall with an accessible viewing platform that provides an excellent photo opportunity. Take a short walk to the base of the falls where you will get to see the waterfall up close.

On your way back through town, stop off at one of the cafes or delis and grab some picnic or snack essentials before heading to the Dorrigo Rainforest centre where exploring the rainforest begins. Soak up the mountain village ambience by popping into some of the cute boutique stores and galleries while you're in town.

At the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre, the tree top sky walk will quickly see you awestruck by stunning panoramic views over World Heritage-listed rainforest and the Bellinger Valley. From there you can explore the lush rainforest tracks including the well-known Wonga Walk which takes you to Crystal Shower Falls and Tristania Falls.

A much shorter option is the Walk with the Birds Boardwalk where you'll wind through the 600-year-old rainforest trees on fully accessible boardwalk and can spot some of the 150 bird species found in Dorrigo National Park.

If you're feeling more adventurous, pop on your hiking boots and check out the Red Cedar Falls walking track from the Never Never picnic area where you'll immerse into a dramatic and captivating journey to Dorrigo National Park's largest waterfall, through towering red cedars and bangalow palms.

We're not done yet! Finish your epic day out with a cosy dinner at the Heritage Hotel and if you're still in the mood to hit the Dorrigo must-see items, take a short drive to Griffiths Lookout to watch the sunset. No walking required and the reward is great!
