Bellingen is fast becoming the region’s culinary hotspot, and the recently reopened Bellingen Brewery is a must-visit for anyone exploring the Mid-North Coast.

You can expect local craft beers, top-notch cocktails with local gins and vodkas, organic and natural wines from around Australia and woodfired pizzas in a rainforest-like setting, built sustainably from local timber and salvaged materials.

We caught up with local brothers and owners, Nick and Charlie, who stepped away from brewing to tell us more about this uniquely Bellingen venue.

What do you love about the Bellingen Shire?

This land is ancient, and I feel in awe of it almost every day. I love how the community of Bellingen is filled with talented people, who are willing to share and help each other, as well as being fiercely protective of preserving the area's natural beauty. - Charlie

What do the locals love about the Bellingen Brewery?

Nick: I believe that people see it as a spot that reflects the community - all genres, all formats, all cultures and, of course, beautiful and eclectic. The space has always been described as an “art instalment”, which really resonated with a chunk of Bellingen locals. We like to think we are contributing to the vibrancy of the Bellingen Shire. We now have nine local tap beers, four of which we brew ourselves... and the pizza oven is running hot!

What do you individually bring to the brewery?

Nick: I’m across all thing's entertainment. We have so much talent coming through and lined up, ranging from jazz, blues, indie, rock to comedy nights, cabarets, vinyl and games nights. We often have DJ's spinning their tunes to dancing crowds. It's a blast!

Charlie is the boots-on-the-ground guy who you're likely to see behind the bar, fermenting our products, chatting with the locals and visitors, and supporting our amazing team who are making sure everyone's having a memorable visit.

What are you most excited about?

Nick: I’m personally most excited by reflecting the art in all its forms. Bellingen is a trojan horse of art and punches way above its weight. The art and decor of the brewery really sets it apart from others and creates an unforgettable experience.  I’m also excited by what we will do with our beers - we have some fun ideas in the alcoholic and non-alcoholic space. It’ll be a hoot!

Charlie: I'm excited about the opportunity the brewery provides to share what our region has to offer to the many travellers and tourists passing through. I would love to think that we might be able to educate travellers, in our own little way, about what is precious about the surrounding natural beauty.
