Summervilles Road Update

Summerville Road is currently being used as an alternate route due to the recent landslip at Gordonville Cutting.

While maintaining access across the Shire is important, we ask that this route is used only when necessary and with care, as it is a narrow local road not designed for high volumes of traffic.

Monday 2 February 2026 Update

The speed limit along Gordonville Road and Summervilles Road (from Glennifer Hall to Thora) has been temporarily reduced to 60 km/h due to increased traffic and several recent vehicle incidents.

We’re working closely with Transport for NSW to continue to assess the road and manage traffic safely.

Please keep the following in mind when using Summerville Road:

  • Drive to conditions, the route has tight bends, narrow sections and steep gradients, traffic should drive to conditions noting this should be well below the posted speed limit for the majority of the route
  • Obey all signage, directions of traffic controllers and Council staff and pay attention to the VMS boards for up-to-date information
  • 10 - tonne load limit applies - the road is not suitable for semi-trailers or heavy trucks. Failure to comply may result in the road being restricted to emergency access only
  •  Allow extra travel time - traffic volumes are higher than usual. Drive courteously, reduce speed where the road narrows, and use safe passing points
  • Take extra care in wet conditions - road verges can become boggy and smaller vehicles may become stuck
  • Watch for hazards, including erosion, potholes and surface damage

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while access is managed during this disruption.
