Dorrigo welcomes visitors with rainforest, flowing waterfalls and country charm
On the edge of the escarpment, Dorrigo offers ancient rainforest, dramatic waterfalls and a charming main street with country character. It is one of the Mid North Coast’s most rewarding day trips or short stays, with sweeping escarpment views, walking tracks through Gondwana World Heritage rainforest, and waterfalls flowing strongly after recent rains.
Dorrigo National Park is a major drawcard, with popular rainforest walks like Crystal Shower Falls walk – a highly photographed waterfall – and Red Cedar Falls track for those looking for a little more adventure, leading to the tallest waterfall in the park. Visitors can also explore an array of local artworks, products and souvenirs in the Dorrigo Rainforest Visitor Centre.
Two minutes outside of Dorrigo town, Dangar Falls is a must-visit. This striking 30-metre waterfall features viewing platforms, picnic facilities and a short walking track to the base of the falls beckoning to those keen for a swim, a perfect place to stop and take it all in.
Back in town, you’ll find cute cafés and bakeries, independent shops and plenty of local charm. Whether you are stopping for lunch, browsing boutique and op shops, or settling in at the Heritage Hotel pub, Dorrigo invites visitors to slow down and stay awhile.
Made in Dorrigo - the town’s handmade market held three times a year - will be on Saturday 4 April, and is set to transform Hickory Street into a lively showcase of local artists, makers, food and produce. Another reason to plan your visit.
Waterfall Way is now fully accessible. Our local businesses can't wait to see you!
